Summer 2008


Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield completes  new equestrian facility.
*  200X100 ft show ring with a warm up area suitable for clinics and small shows.
*  29 horse trailer parking area and a 30 car parking area

Rental of facility (rings and parking)  $300/daylight hours   $180/ ½ day
  (speical use permit conditions apply).
Annual Horse Trailer-Vehicle parking pass $70
Individual use of ring for training:   $5/per/weekday, $6/per/weekend, or $30/annual with annual pass


Occoneechee State Park, Clarksville, VA
Opened new equestrian campground. 
11 developed sites with stalls.  Servers 7 mile
linear trail.

8/22/08 High Bridge Trail State Park
opens first 4 miles of trail                                          (High Bridge to Farmville).

When finished, High Bridge Trail will be a 33.5 mile long linear trail following an old rail corridor.
The rail-trail will connect Pamplin City to Burkeville and run through Prospect, Farmville, and Rice.  
The surface has a stone base with fines, similar to the New River Trail State Park.
Expect lots of bikes and hikers on this trail.
No water access.

12/6/2008  Washington Lacy Park opens in Ashland.  6-miles of horse friendly trails developed by the Friends of Hanover Trails.  Map.
